The following are some basic Pai Gow Poker specifications.

How To Play Pai Gow Poker

The game begins by the player putting the recommended pre-flop amount into the “Ante” box on the table, just as if they would do with any other poker hand. Then, the dealer deals each player one card face down, one at a time, starting with the player on his left and continuing clockwise until each player has a total of four cards face down.

The player to the dealer’s left opens the third round of betting, which is started by the player to his left. The player can either stay, call, raise, or fold, depending on the strength of their hand. After this, the dealer deals each player another face-down card, followed by another round of betting. The third round of betting is followed by the fourth and final card being dealt face-up by the dealer.

After the fourth round of betting, the dealer deals each remaining card face-up into the middle of the table, followed by another round of betting. The fifth and final card is dealt face down by the dealer, followed by the final round of betting. After all the bets are placed, each player remaining in the game shows their hand. The best hand combination wins the jackpot.

How Betting Takes Place

During the game’s initial round, the player to the immediate left of the dealer must place the small blind into the “Ante” box in the middle of the table. The player to the left of the small blind then becomes the first player to bet.

After all the players have bet, the dealer deals each player one card face down and one card face up. This is called the “hole cards”, and they are private to each player.

Many poker hands are possible from the five-card combination. It is not recommended to use the face cards or the four-card hand, as chances of counterfeiting these are very rare.

The player to the dealer’s left opens the next round of betting, starting with the player who has not placed a bet during the round of opening the pack.

After all bets are in, the dealer deals each player one more card face down, followed by another round of betting. This dealing of the cards is called the “jayapoker“.

Now the dealer deals each player one more card face up, and another round of betting takes place. This second round of betting is the same as the third, and it ends when the dealer finishes drawing the fifth card, which is also called as the “river”.

After the final round of betting with the river card still to come, each player remaining in the game shows their final hand, and the highest hand wins the pot.

Betting Structure

In Pai Gow Poker, the rounds of betting follow the same format like that of Texas Hold’em. The bet starts with the player to the dealer’s left, and the size of the bet and amount can eventually get to be very large, depending on the potential outcome of the hand.

The dealer deals five cards to each player, two cards face down and four cards face up. This is followed by a round of betting, during which the players can either check, raise or fold.

After the round of betting, the dealer deals the next three cards face down and places the final card face up on the table. This is followed by a final round of betting and then the game is over.
